AutoWeek has published a video where GM Design Director Tom Peters explains the design of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray tail lights, in response to the controversial reactions.

After the debut of the 2014 Corvette Stingray at the past Detroit Motor Show, there has been some criticism on the squarish design of the tail lights, which have replaced the trademark twin circular lamps.

In response to this, GM Design Director Tom Peters has been interviewed in video by AutoWeek (see below), and explained the rationale behind the new rear end.

He also reports that the design team actually tested rounded lights on the new model, but they did not work as expected.
