Classic Motorsports Design Contest: Entries Part 1

The first set of entries to our Classic Motorsports Design Contest, featuring the 65 artworks submitted by senior design students and design professionals.

First, we’d love to thank all the participants in our first contest ever: we received a lot of really great works and we are currently in the final selection stage – and given the quality of many entries it is a really though job!

As anticipated, below we report a full gallery of the entries (strictly in alphabetical order) for the Senior design Students and Professional designers category.

    coool…..m waiting for mine…;-)

… wasn’t the brief was to “create a QUICK drawing/rendering / painting”. Surely some of those, although beautiful fall into the over two hours mark – always read the design brief! 😉

Yes emp5317: I totally agree!! If I had more time I would have submitted something better than my Pegaso sports car, but the rules where 2 hours per sketch. Come on, lets be fair!

…Anyway, some are absolutely beautiful. Congs to all. Difficult to decide which is the best.

Some of these sketches are masterpieces.
    I can’t compete 😉

Sad that many people have sent their old drawings, rather than creating new ones.
So a professional designer cannot find 2 hours of time to participate in a contest?
I find very difficult that someone can remember how much time was spent on a drawing of 3 or 4 years ago ;(

Well bivvoDsign don’t worry. There are professional designers out there that did take the take the proper amount of time and do the work recently. For example my blue Cobra submission (mine were the 4th and 5th images down from the top) took 20 min to sketch and 15 to render. Clearly under the designated amount and a true paper and pen sketch. It was finished on the friday of the deadline during my lunch hour. And the cheetah was under two hours as well since you don’t really have to render the entire car with that style. I always figure if you wanna do it bad enough, you will find a way.

Dear Tony, you’re right, in fact I said many drawings, not all (by the way, congratulations for your designs)
The trouble of the recycled drawings is that they are not sketch nor emotional.
Plus, some of these models are not even of the 50s-60s.
I think that the possibility given to the participant to be among the first to have their portfolio in a such site, has led many people to send works that they know that will not win, but just to be here.
On the other hand we have the possibility to see very, VERY spectacular artworks in here!
        The level is really high

I do agree with you on numerous topics. I also believe there is some very attractive pieces in here and applaud that. I also noticed not all the vehicles chosen were from the 50’s and 60’s and I am sure the judges are taking that into account. I just wanted to show that it is do able for Full timers to compete and no matter what the outcome we should all have pride in our artwork. It’s like I always say to fellow designers. We were artists long before we were designers. It should be viewed as a fun exercise instead of an “I have to win the prize deal”. The prize should be a bonus instead of a motivator. Good luck to all of the participants and I hope that CBD continues to have these contests more. 🙂

Of course that all cannot be made in 2 hours…
I am sure that the jury will be able to make the difference… 😉

But a lot are really beautiful… Congratulations to all !
