Mercedes-Benz Citan: design preview
Mercedes-Benz has revealed the first sketches of Citan, a new urban delivery van that will broaden the company’s range of commercial vehicles in the small van segment.
The name Citan combines the words city and titan, and was revealed during a symposium held at the Mercedes-Benz Design Center in Sindelfingen.
The vehicle will focus on day-to-day operations in the city logistics field and will feature different variants that will cover a number of commercial applications.
Expected to go on sale in fall 2012, the Citan will be available as a panel van, a crewbus, and a mixed-use vehicle, as well as in a variety of lengths and weights.
The compact van will join the current portfolio of commercial vehicles.
This includes the Vario (6.0 to 8.2 tons), Sprinter (3.0 to 5.0 tons), and Vito (2.77 to 3.2 tons) and will broaden the range in the lower weight classes of the van market.
According to the first official information, Mercedes-Benz is planning to gain a market share of up to 5% of the segment, which since the 1990s has grown to around 700,000 units in Europe.
The vehicle will be unveiled to the general public for the first time at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hanover in September.

Cute! Although I don’t understand how come Benz became so trendy with all these curves… and waves (look at new CLS so called 4door coupe).
